Location of Miss and Hit (LOMAH) is essentially a scoring system for rifles, mortars, tanks and other weaponry in the military. This is used during training exercises to measure accuracy. A sensor at the target end of the range detects the passage of the projectile through a target and feeds back an 'X/Y' coordinate to a video display screen at the shooting station. The sensor system is a set of microphones that detect the supersonic boom of the projectile passing overhead. This information is wirelessly transmitted back to the computer at the shooters side which displays a graphic interpretation of the location of the miss and hit.

Optical systems within the military are used to enhance or protect vision in differing terrain and circumstances. Vision is a highly important sense that must be protected at all costs. Some forms of optical systems involve the enhancement of vision, using items such as sights attached to firearms, ensuring targets are hit. Binoculars operate in a similar way, sharpening the vision and enabling users to see items clearly that are some way in the distance. Ballistic goggles are also used by the military. These prevent any shrapnel or debris from a firearm entering the eye.
