Waste management and disposal is the practice required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes the collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste. The waste hierarchy consists of the 'Three R's" which are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. These classify waste management strategies in accordance to their waste minimisation. The aim of this is to reduce the amount of waste produced that goes to landfill by reducing the amount of non-recyclable waste. Waste that is non-recyclable are either incinerated or sent to landfill. Incineration is where solid organic waste is subject to combustion. This can be done on an industrial scale or at home by an individual, known as a bonfire. Landfill is the disposal of waste by burial.
