Telecommunications equipment is any hardware, infrastructure or maintenance tool used in the telecommunication industry. Infrastructure includes antennas, broadcasting masts and towers (receivers, transmitters and transceivers), mobile base stations, communications satellites, power and data cables (including broadband). Supporting hardware includes multiplexers (or "data selectors", which select one signal out of several inputs), signal boosters and repeaters (to boost weak, degraded signals in long-distance cable networks), attenuators (which reduce signal power to match expected inputs) and connectors. Routing equipment includes switchboards, modems, routers and hubs. Other telecommunication devices include telephones, mobiles, radio systems, power meters, spectrum scopes / analysers and OTDR test equipment.
