Tea is an aromatic beverage that is prepared by pouring boiling or hot water over cured leaves of an evergreen shrub native to Asia that is known as Camellia sinensis. Tea is the second most widely consumed drink in the world after water. There are many types of tea, some herbal and some fruit infused. Some examples of this are: peppermint, chamomile, darjeeling, apple, pear and strawberry. Tea originated in southwest China where it was originally used for medicinal purposes. It became a recreational drink during the Chinese Tang dynasty and it then spread across other countries. It was introduced to Europe in the 17th century, where, in Britain, a large-scale production and commercialisation of tea began.
