Satellite communication systems are an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunication signals via a transponder. This then creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a receiver at different locations on Earth. There are over 2,000 communications satellites in the Earths orbit that are used by both public and private organisations in applications such as TV, radio, telephone, internet and military applications. This form of communication uses electromagnetic waves to carry the signals. These waves require line of sight and so are often obstructed by the natural curvature of the Earth.
