Medical education is the study to become a practiced medical practitioner, be that a surgeon or a general practitioner. A medical education takes a lot of study, to enter on to a course of this calibre an applicant has to have top grades in the required fields. Initial training is taken at medical school, with the basics being learned within the classroom, then progressing into placement where the student can, under the instruction of a qualified doctor, choose their 'speciality' and progress with further training. Newly qualified doctors undergo a 'residency,' or a period of supervised training before they are fully licensed. They then continue to take courses to further their education and keep their licence updated.
