Laboratory storage is used to maintain and keep a track of all inventory items from products to equipment such as laboratory furniture, flammable storage cabinets, fume hoods and fume cabinets, refrigerators, cryogenic freezers and many other solutions. These can include tracking and inventory management systems, which ensure products, are kept under optimal conditions to guarantee maximum product quality, and to improve safety and efficiency in the lab. A broad range of laboratory furniture is available together with trays, boxes, dewars, racks and cases for specific materials, chemical storage, lab equipment, metal cabinets, products or equipment. Biological cabinets, also known as a biosafety cabinet or a biological safety cabinet is an enclosed, ventilated laboratory workspace that is designed for safely working with materials contaminated with pathogens that requires a defined biosafety level. The main purpose of these cabinets is to protect the laboratory worker and the surrounding environment from pathogens. All air leaving the cabinet is HEPA filtered, removing harmful bacteria and keeping the environment safe.

Fume cabinets are used widely across the pharmaceutical industry and is a local, well ventilated device that is designed to limit exposure to hazardous or toxic fumes, vapours or dusts. A fume cabinet, sometimes called a fume hood or fume closet are typically large pieces of equipment that encloses a five side work area, commonly at standing work height. Air is drawn in from the front of the cabinet which is usually open and expelled through to the outside of the building or made safe and filtered back into the room. They are used to protect the user inhaling any toxic gases, protect the experiment and protect the environment.

Laboratory freeze dryers are large pieces of equipment that use a dehydration process to preserve a perishable material. Pharmaceutical companies often use freeze-drying to increase the shelf life of products such as live virus vaccines and other injectables. By removing the water from materials and sealing it in a glass vial, the material can be easily stored and shipped, then later reconstituted to its former state. Freeze dried pharmaceutical products are lyophilised powders that are used in reconstruction in vials and more recently in pre-filled syringes for self administration by a patient.

Laboratory refrigerators are used to cool samples of specimens for preservation. They include refrigeration units for storing blood and plasma as well as other blood products, as well as vaccines and other medical or pharmaceutical supplies. Laboratory refrigerators are cooler than a regular refrigerator due to the need for some specimens to be kept cool. They are often large to accommodate the range of items that need to be stored within them.

Sample storage, essentially, is the storage of samples that have been collected during biological, chemical or pharmaceutical research. There are many ways in which they can be stored, depending on the need for the sample. Samples can be frozen or refrigerated to give them a longer shelf life, dehydrated in a freeze-dryer for rehydration and use later on or cryoreserved. The storing of samples means that personnel can keep them for a long while, looking back over past results, or checking on the results of a test if those results take time to be exposed or yielded. Sample storage is often used in the extraction of ovarian eggs and sperm for fertilisation at a later date.
