Modern herbicides typically work by inhibiting plant hormones so that plants either die or become uncompetitive with crops. For example ACCase inhibitors (which affect grasses, leaving many other plants unharmed) affect the production of lipids used in plant growth areas known as meristems. HPPD inhibitors block carotenoids, making chlorophyl in the plants vulnerable to sunlight. Other herbicides inhibit photosynthesis, cell division, or the production of amino acids. Herbicides can also be classified by their persistence (longevity), site of action or timing and method of application.

The companies below supply herbicides for commercial applications including glyphosate herbicide, weed killer, fungicide, systemic weed killer, broadleaf herbicide, sprayers and chemicals and more.
