A fume cabinet, sometimes called a fume hood or fume closet are typically large pieces of equipment that encloses a five side work area, commonly at standing work height. Air is drawn in from the front of the cabinet which is usually open and expelled through to the outside of the building or made safe and filtered back into the room. They are used to protect the user inhaling any toxic gases, protect the experiment and protect the environment.
