Turner Construction Company's New York office has been awarded a contract by JetBlue Airways to provide construction services for a new 640,000-sq.-ft. terminal at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in Jamaica, N.Y.
The new 26-gate addition will incorporate the landmark TWA terminal and become JetBlue Terminal 5, which will accommodate more than double the airline's current capacity. The scope of work includes a connecting bridge to the AirTrain station and a parking garage. The project will be executed in a manner so there will be no major impact to JetBlue operations or customers. Completion is scheduled for 2008.
"We are thrilled to have been chosen as construction manager for the JetBlue Terminal 5 project, and we are committed to its successful completion," said Charles F. Murphy, vice president and general manager of Turner's New York office.
