De Facto Standard: FIOLAX® Glass Tubes

Every year, SCHOTT Pharmaceutical Tubing produces more than 150,000 tons of glass tubing in its production sites in Europe, South America and Asia. Over the last 100 years, SCHOTT’s FIOLAX® glass tubes have become the de facto standard for glass packaging in the pharmaceutical industry. Thanks to its high hydrolytic resistance, FIOLAX® glass tubing preserves the efficacy of medicine and reduces the risk of interaction with packaging to a minimum. As a Type I glass (Type I Class B, as per ASTM E438 standard) it meets all pharmacopeia requirements in Europe, the USA and Japan. Moreover, with the recently introduced perfeXionTM process, SCHOTT pushes towards a zero-defect philosophy in pharmaceutical glass tubing production and aims to contributing to patients’ safety from the very beginning of the value chain.
