EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) EXPLAINED
Emotional Intelligence is your ability to recognise and understand emotions in yourself and others, and your ability to use this awareness to manage your behaviour and relationships. Diversity of personality is often a key component to building a successful team. The key is to understand how to harness the power of these differences for success.
EQ differs from Intellectual Intelligence (IQ) in that your EQ can be developed and improved continuously and will have a positive impact on your performance and success. Studies indicate that 90% of high performers are also high in EQ; and EQ is twice as important as IQ in achieving results.
Research carried out by the Hay Group found that:
- software developers with high levels of EQ develop effective software three times faster than others
