The PPMA is an internationally recognised trade association with offices in the UK and China for companies that supply processing & packaging machinery to the UK market. The aim is to promote the sales of packaging machinery through a variety of services and projects - mutually benefiting both members and their clients by offering free machinery & technical advice and information.
Founded in 1987 with just 8 companies, the PPMA grew rapidly over the next few years to become the PPMA Group by merging with three other associations; BARA British Automation and Robot Association, UKIVA Uk Industrial Vision Association and PMMDA; Polymer Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association. . The group currently has around 400 member and associated companies who are responsible for most of the processing & packaging machinery sold in the UK every year.more

One of the PPMA's main aims is to assist people in finding the right processing & packaging machinery for their needs. Being a large association, , they have a vast number of contacts to help locate the right machinery for the job.
Machinery Update Publication
The PPMA produce a number of publications to keep their members and customers abreast of any industry developments and news that may be relevant as well as detailing upcoming packaging exhibitions:

- Machinery Update: Review of the Year (supplement and run on)
- The Machinery Directory (365 page annual directory)
PPMA Exhibitions & Events
The PPMA run their own exhibition with over 300 exhibitors at the NEC in September each year. The show attracts around 8,000 visitors annually. The PPMA Group Industry Awards take place on the first night of the show with over 400 in attendance.
The PPMA Group also work with many organisations and companies around the world to organise packaging exhibitions and events, bringing industry professionals together to showcase their products to potential clients. The PPMA very often organises a PPMA group stand at the overseas shows.

PPMA Seminars & Training
Over the past few years some of the directives and regulations affecting machinery suppliers have been updated and a number of new key directives have been introduced.
