Malvern Instruments, Inc., a market leader in instrumentation for material characterization, has an immediate opening for the role of Applications Chemist & Technical Specialist in Westborough, MA.
This position will have two main functions. First as Applications Chemist, the candidate will be responsible for analyzing samples from potential customers, subsidiaries, distributors and agents, using the Malvern range of instruments and ancillary support equipment, as necessary. The candidate will be responsible for communicating the findings of such analyses to the customer via clearly written reports, presentations and demonstrations for the purpose of pre-sales customer support. Second as Technical Specialist, the candidate will provide customer support and training (both in-house and external) to Malvern staff and customers in-line with Malvern Instruments’ procedures and practices supporting our Diffraction line of instrumentation.
Other desirable skills / acquirements
The ideal candidate would hold a Ph.D. in areas such as Biochemistry, Biophysics, Colloid Chemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, and other scientific disciplines including the physical sciences; Master’s degree will be considered or a degreed area specific to our industry (scientific or analytical instrumentation). Previous laboratory experience is essential and expected. Minimum of 4-6 years in a real life industrial and/or academic experience, working in a research, development or laboratory setting. Experience in a technical role and/or sales support role is ideal. Experience in typical Malvern market sectors would be advantageous.
