Classic cars are older automobiles that are deemed to have enough historical interest to be worth preserving or restoring and not scrapping. Typically, cars that are 20 years and older fall into the classic car class. There are organisations such as the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) amongst others that maintain a list of eligible unmodified cars that are called 'classic.' In America, they are classed as classic between 1915-1998, whereas in the UK a classic car ranges from veteran (pre- First World War) to vintage (1919-1930) or post-windage (1930s onwards.)

Collectable cars are cars that are considered to be classic or vintage. Collecting cars is often a hobby, with a person choosing to collect cars of a particular make, for example the (Porsche 9/11), a particular manufacturer, for example Aston Martin, or a particular Country make of cars, for example German cars. Finding a car of any of these calibre isn't always difficult and their affordability largely depends on how much work is required to make them run. Some will purchase the cars for display rather than use, though some cars will require an awful lot of work to make them run.
