Biogas is a gaseous fuel produced from organic material. It typically contains methane (which is typically created by anaerobic digestion - bacterial decay - in the fermentation of vegetation and animal products), which is often mixed with carbon dioxide and small quantities of hydrogen sulphide. Common sources include agricultural facilities is landfill sites, in which organic matter decomposes and releases "landfill gas". Biogas can be used in power and heat generation, or it can be compressed as a fuel supply for bio-powered vehicles.
