Banding and strapping machines are used to apply a strap, usually made from metal or plastic, around a package to add a level of reinforcement and security to the package. There are other uses to strapping, including bundling items together, attaching items to pallets, attaching items to trailers, securing a load such as bricks, closing corrugated boxes and shipping containers, holding bales of agricultural products and securing items. Once the strapping is attached it often adheres to itself, creating a loop around the products. This is commonly done by welding the metal straps or melting plastic ones to join them together.

Strapping, otherwise known as banding, is the process of applying a strap to an item with a view to combining, stabilising, holding, reinforcing or fastening it. Strapping os commonly used in the packaging industry. Strapping is mostly made from metal or a variety of plastics such as nylon, polypropylene, polyester. They can also be corded and woven. There are several uses for strapping, including bundling products together, attaching items to pallets, reinforcing packages, securing a load, closing containers and holding agricultural items. The trapping is given tension, then adhered to itself either by welding or melting the plastic and binging it to itself.
