Airport kiosk systems are becoming increasingly popular within the aviation industry as self-service kiosks are gradually being introduced. Passengers can check in remotely, with some airlines offering this service via an app and can check in up to 30 days before the flight. Within the terminal, passengers are now able to check their bags in by using a self service bag drop, bags are remotely weighed, passengers then attach a printed label and place bags on the conveyer and they are then transported to the correct flight.

Passengers are also able to get through into departures by using a self-service scanner, plane tickets are placed on a bio-metric scanner and are scanned, allowing passengers through. Other scanners include bio-metric facial recognition as passengers place their passports on to scanners and they are scanned simultaneously to ensure the passport matches the person.

The increase in self-service kiosks across airports are designed to make traffic through airports easier and faster for passengers.
