Aircraft towing tractors are used to tow an aircraft back towards the terminal. this process is called a pushback. A pushback tractor must fit under the nose of a plane and so has a low profile design. Some tractors use tow bars to pushback the plane. The tower is attached under the nose cone at the landing gear and then attached to either the front or back of the tractor depending on whether it will be pushed or pulled. Towbarless tractors position themselves under the nose cone and lift it off the ground which allows the tug to manoeuvre the aircraft. This offers much more control over the movement of the aircraft.
