Food Packaging: Optimal humidity ensures trouble-free productionDRAABE Air Humidification
With some 2,800 employees and numerous locations throughout Europe, Mayr-Melnhof Packaging is the largest manufacturer of folding cartons.
MM Packaging Caesar, in Traben-Trarbach in Germany, processes more than 48,000 t of carton board to make folding cartons and cut-outs, predominantly in the cereal, confectionary, frozen and dairy products segments. Humidity must be kept constant at 45-50%.
This is an essential requirement for printing, die cutting and gluing the chromo duplex board in order to ensure trouble-free production and absolute precision of register for the products.
Since the autumn of 2003, MM Packaging Caesar has been using DRAABE direct room air humidification equipment in the printing room and in finishing.
"The cost-intensive weekly cleaning required for the air washers previously used and the potential hygiene problems were the determining factor for refitting", remembers Berthold Reinisch (Plant Manager).
Thanks to the micro-fine atomiser, the DRAABE high-pressure atomisers, which can be positioned flexibly, deliver targeted humidification of specific zones, whilst at the same time performing an effective dust bonding function and adiabatic cooling.
The special DRAABE maintenance concept (Full Service rental) guarantees a high level of operating reliability and hygiene.
When deciding in favour of DRAABE, MM Packaging Caesar relied in part on the recommendations of other MM Packaging plants, which have been equipped with a DRAABE system for many years now.
