Innovia Films' compostable, cellulose-based material, NatureFlexTM NVS, is helping to spread the healthy eating message in Italian schools.
The EU funded ‘Frutta nelle Scuole' (School Fruit Scheme) ensures children aged 6-11 years old are given individually wrapped portions of fresh organic fruit to enjoy during the school day.
The transparent NatureFlexTM NVS film used in Frutta nelle Scuole is converted and sold to packers by Italian company, CORAPACK Srl, founded by Massimo Radice. Corapack has many years experience in perforating and printing various flexible films.

Fabrizio Radice, Sales Manager, Corapack, explained "NatureFlexTM NVS was the ideal choice to flow wrap the fruit as it not only protects the product inside, due to its semi-permeability to moisture, but also provides good machinability and printability, ensuring a nice pack appearance. In addition the film has excellent environmental attributes such as being compostable and made from renewable resources."
Beginning life as a natural product, wood (from managed plantations operating on good forestry principals, FSC or equivalent), NatureFlexTM is certified compostable in both home and industrial composting environments and is also suitable for anaerobic digestion.
NatureFlexTM offers advantages for packing and converting such as inherent dead fold and anti-static properties, high gloss and transparency, resistance to grease and oil, good barrier to gases, aromas and mineral oils and a wide heat-seal range.

NatureFlexTM NVS has been specifically formulated to offer improved stiffness under chill cabinet conditions and a controlled level of moisture permeability with a heat-sealable conversion-friendly coating on both sides.
