SELEX Sistemi Integrati is present at IDEX and NAVDEX 2011 into the Finmeccanica stand, where the company demonstrates its capabilities and its production in naval, air defence and land radar systems by displaying the Kronos naval version and the FADR L-band (Fixed Air Defence Radar).
Moreover two demo show how operate the Italian Forza Nec System for the digitalisation of the Armed Forces and Blue Shield, integrated air defence system.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati is also present at the co-located naval defence exhibition NAVDEX, where the Italian company displays the Lyra 10 surveillance radar, the C4I Archimede System and the Electro Optical Fire Control system (EO FCS) Medusa MK4/B.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati’s naval products can be seen installed on board the Baynunah SOC (Second of Class) Corvette, docked at NAVDEX exhibition area. Baynunah is a major programme set up for the development and production of six 70m Corvettes for UAE Navy in which SELEX Sistemi Integrati has a lead integration and supplier role to the local Abu Dhabi Ship Building. Within this programme SELEX Sistemi Integrati is responsible for the Combat System Integration and for the supply of the Command Management System IPN-S/R and Fire Control System NA25XM. Fully successful Factory Acceptance Tests of the main systems have been carried out.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati and Abu Dhabi Ship Building established in UAE a joint venture named Abu Dhabi Systems Integration (ADSI) aimed at providing a broad range of defence systems, products and services.
Key Projects in UAE
SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been also selected by the UAE Navy for a number of new challenging projects such as ABU DHABI class Corvette, FALAJ-2 class OPV and Ghannatha Class FPB.
Through the joint venture Abu Dhabi System Integration (ADSI), SELEX Sistemi Integrati was selected by UAE Navy to equip new and existing Fast Patrol Boats. The agreement is part of the Ghannatha programme to supply 12 new Missile Patrol boats and retrofit a further 12 units of the same class. In addition to the compact Command Management System, SELEX Sistemi Integrati will supply the EO FCS Medusa MK4B system while ADSI will be responsible for the integration and for the supply of the combat system. The first boat, fitted with the new equipments, is expected to be delivered in 2011.
KRONOS Multi-Role Radar System
SELEX Sistemi integrati was awarded for Abu Dhabi Class ASW project for the UAE Navy. Within this programme, SELEX Sistemi Integrati will deliver IPN-S/R Command Management System, NA30S Fire Control System, KRONOS multi-role radar system co-mounted with IFF SIR-M radar and EO FCS Medusa MK4/B.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati is responsible for the functional integration of the combat system. A key element of the contract is the KRONOS multi-role solid-state radar, completely designed and developed by SELEX Sistemi Integrati and based on EMPAR, the naval radar system used by the Italian Navy and other foreign customers.
In early 2010 SELEX Sistemi Integrati was again awarded a contract to supply naval systems to be fitted into the two new stealth patrol vessels known as “Falaj 2”, which have been ordered to Fincantieri by the United Arab Emirates Navy. Specifically, SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been chosen as a major CS provider and to integrate the combat system. The agreement also includes an option for two further vessels of the same class. Also in this case the company will provide the IPN-S command management systems, the NA 30S fire control systems, the KRONOS radar systems and the SIR-M .
Finally SELEX Sistemi Integrati is also delivering six Medusa MK4/B electro optical fire control systems intended for the UAE Coast Guard fast patrol boats.
The Gulf Area
SELEX Sistemi Integrati is also present in several other countries of the Gulf area.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati signed a contract with Qatar for the value of over 105 million dollars to design and provide air traffic control and terminal area manoeuvre systems for the New Doha International Airport. The company also play a leading role as integrator of all the air traffic and weather control equipments in the new airport. A second contract was signed by the company to provide logistic support activities.
In early 2010 SELEX Sistemi Integrati signed a 15 million dollar contract with the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) for the supply of a primary surveillance radar and two Mode-S secondary surveillance radars at the Bahrain International Airport, making the national airspace management safer and more efficient.
Recent contract was signed in Kuwait for 16 million dollars to provide the Kuwait General directorate of civil aviation with air traffic control systems. In particular, SELEX Sistemi Integrati will equip the international airport of Kuwait City with an ATCR-33/S primary radar, a SIR-S secondary radar and ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast), a high performance system for en-route, terminal area and airport surveillance applications.
Finally, in Yemen SELEX Sistemi Integrati signed a 20 million euro contract with the Yemeni Coast Guard for the supply of a VTS system to secure the Yemeni coasts. The system will provide coverage of about 450 kilometers of coastline along the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden represents a first step for a complete surveillance program including two further development phases.
