Kontron 6U CPCI CP6004-SA Processor Board
Kontron introduce the new 6U CPCI CP6004-SA processor board, which sets new standards in performance-per watt for high-end applications. Built on the Intel QM77 Express Chipset and compatible with the 3rd-gen quad core Intel Core i7-3615QE processor with 4 x 2.3 GHz (3.3 GHz in Turbo mode) the CP6004-SA offer up to twenty percent improved computing power and better perfomance-per watt relative to designs with 2nd-gen Intel Core chips. As an additional benefit, the board features built-in HD 4000 graphics. Designers and original equipment manufacturers will gain from stunning visual capabilities and user experience due to exceptional levels of performance for High Definition media and 3D graphics. The board supports OpenGL 3.1, DirectX11, OpenCl 3.1 and AVX so programmers can rely on the most up-to-date APIs for application development.
The energy-efficient Kontron 6U CPCI CP6004-SA processor board is optimised for use in densely fitted, thermally constrained CPCI systems requiring exceptional performance with a power envelope of 60 W or under. The system supports 4 processors ranging from low-powered dual core chips to ultra-powerful 4-core chips to meet specific mission requirements. offering exceptional data throughput and out-o-band communications via the Intelligent Platform Management interface (IPMI). The system offers effective system management and information to meet the challenging requirements of high-acailability tasks. An optional TPM 1.2 (Trusted Platform Module) ensures effective protection of data. The rugged Kontron CP6004-SA is therefore ideally suited for applications in the medical and the military, and for security-critical telecommunications and data communications. Demanding image processing, test and measurement an multimedia tasks will also gain from the large six megabyte cache, and 16GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 ECC SO-DIMM memory. The new processor board accepts a 64-bit/66 MHz PCI or PCI-X, hot swap CompactPCI interface.
The CP6004-SA supports an extensive choice of interface for optimum flexibility. These include 6 USB 2 ports, 6 SATA ports supporting RAID 0, 1 and 5 functions, 2 RS232 ports, High Def audio interfaces, 1VGA and 2 DVI/HDMI ports and 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports linked by PCI Express to attain the highest in communications performance. One of the 6 Gb/s SATA ports may be used with either a 2.5" solid state drive, hard disk drive or up to 32GB Flash SATA module, which may accommodate complete operating systems and applications for greatly enhanced system speed and the added security of a write-protect option. To facilitate additional expansions such as Kontron's dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface cards, the system also features an XMC socket (connected by PCI Express x8).
The new processor board supports Microsoft Windows XP, XP embedded, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008-R2, VxWorks (6.9 onwards) and Linux (Fedora, RedHat, Windriver).
Samples of the new processor board will be obtainable from July, with full-scale protection beginning in the third quarter of 2012, with an availability up to 2019.
