Diesel and Marine Fuel Injection
Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd is a multi-agency company totally dedicated to the supply of spare parts and test equipment for the servicing of diesel fuel injection systems.
We are based in Preston in the north of England and have a customer base ranging from small private businesses to multi-national organisations.
The Merlin test equipment range covers automotive, marine, rail and power generation applications with authorities throughout the world being users of MERLIN test equipment.
Our parts division, supplies fuel pumps, injectors, nozzles, lift pumps, filters etc. and currently holds agencies for Delphi, Bosch, Denso, Woodward Diesel, Yanmar, Stanadyne and Continental (formerly Siemens). A fully equipped diesel fuel injection workshop manned by factory trained technicians and filter division are also available for our customers.
Diesel Injection Pumps
Our stock holding of diesel injection pumps covers a varied range of automotive, marine, rail and power generation applications. Many of these are the latest common rail and electronic governor control types as well as more traditional in-line and rotary pump types.
Pumps manufactured by Bosch, Delphi (formerly Lucas / Cav / Simms) Stanadyne, Denso, Continental VDO (formerly Siemens) Zexel, Yanmar and Woodward (formerly Lucas Bryce) are always in stock, any special military applications can be modified to agency standards in our fully equipped workshop. Depending on the application, fuel pumps are available for outright purchase or service exchange.
Marine Fuel Injection
Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd specialise in heavy-duty diesel fuel injection test equipment, as used in marine applications (Marine Fuel Injection).
Our range includes the MERLIN H1230E test stand, which is designed principally to test heavy duty in-line, 'V' or single cylinder configuration diesel fuel injection pumps. A selection of mobile injector mount/ calibration units, camboxes and fuel pump mounting brackets are available to enable testing of a variety of pump types.
The MERLIN S450-1 INJECTORMASTER has been designed for performance testing of larger and higher pressure marine injectors and is suitable for on board operation. MERLIN DC SERIES fuel pump test stands are designed principally for the calibration of larger, single cylinder fuel injection pumps of up to 50mm cam lift and 50mm plunger diameter as fitted in marine engines. We also offer a workshop facility for overhauling and testing marine fuel pumps and injectors.
Engine Valve Grinding
Merlin manufacture a robust, precision engineered engine valve re-facing machine suitable for both workshop and shipboard operation. Merlin Engine Valve Grinding is used throughout the world in medium size industrial, rail and marine engine applications.
It is available in two models, VM1 and VM5, both having the following features:
- Robust cast iron wheel-head, work-head and bed.
- Fully adjustable slides, accurately dove-tailed throughout with nylon gibs for minimum friction. Wheel-head feed graduated in 0.001" (0.025mm).
- Easily replaceable wheel-head grinding spindle cartridge, fitted with extra precision bearings.
- Wheel-head and work-head independently driven by electric motors and wet grinding by gear pump.
- Work-head fitted with two self centring, precision chucks to accommodate longer valves.
A stem grinding attachment with micrometer is also available.
Fuel Injection Test Bench
Merlin specialise in test benches and servicing equipment for use in the repair and maintenance of diesel engine and associated equipment such as pumps and injectors. We manufacture a comprehensive range of fuel injection test equipment, from small injector testers up to 120 hp heavy duty marine test stands.
Most types of diesel fuel injection pumps and injectors can be tested on our equipment, which has been supplied to various armed forces over the years. Complete diesel fuel injection workshops can be equipped with standard products from our range. A special build facility is also available where equipment is supplied to customer specification.
