Developed by S. Ghosh & Associates, the new terminal building was inaugurated by Ajit Singh on the 19th of May.  The new terminal is due to begin operations on the 2nd of June, whilst the current terminal will be shut down for 6 months pending refurbishment and repairs.

The new terminal building at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport will host both international and domestic departures and arrivals from Indian Airlines, Indigo, Air India and Jet Lite. The airport, formerly known as Amausi Airport, is the main hub for civilian air travel to the cities of Lucknow and Kanpur and is the second most busy airport in North India.

New Terminal Building

The new terminal building will feature state of the art facilities and technology. It will cover an area of 20,000 square meters, and have a capacity of six hundred and fifty passengers. The terminal will have twelve immigration checkpoints and five customs checks.  The building is designed to mirror the concept of a plane, with sweeping, wing-shaped cantilevers.
